Hi @panosghikas, Iâve just replied to your email but replying here for othersâ benefit if they have the same question: You must enter all authors before the final submission deadline. You should still be able to add/edit authors and add conflicts after 5 February until the final submission deadline on 12 February.
I plan to submit a paper as well as a music submission. The paper presents a novel NIME & methods, while the performance centers around the NIME, so it is necessary to mention the name of the NIME in both submissions. Given that there are different levels of anonymity for papers and music submissions, it is likely that someone could guess author identity of the paper submission if they also have access to the music submission.
Additionally, the name of the NIME was previously mentioned in some program notes from past performances during earlier stages of its development. These would be obscure mentions and not largely publicised.
Are these potential problems? We could redact the name of the NIME in the paper or add a note to the organisers in the ânotesâ field of the submission portal.
Hi @15tr55, a couple points in here, but first is to say that it sounds like the only concern is if you ended up getting the same reviewer for both of your submissions and theyâd somehow determine who you are from that combination. Itâs unlikely this will happen and reviewers are informed that theyâre not supposed to go looking for author identities. You could probably find many folks with a quick Google search when the work is niche, as NIME submissions tend to be, myself included! So you should only ensure that you meet the anonymous submission criteria, e.g., no identifying information in the paper and soft anonymisation for the music. You can find the specifics about this on the relevant CfP pages on the NIME site to double-check: Call for Papers and Call for Music
For the name of the system, this is something that happens often at NIME and isnât a problem; for instance, thereâs always a paper about a very familiar NIMEs from the original authors addressing advances on the instrument. This is great, we love continuity! Again, so long as your personal information isnât in the document, this should be fine. It is not possible to be completely anonymous in this case without reducing the continuity and the related work in the paper, it sounds like.
I think youâre right in leaving a note in the comments box to the track chairs that you have another submission in the other track. It would be especially helpful if you leave the submission number and title from the other track so the chairs can easily find it. You can also send a brief email to the track chairs together - music@nime2026.org and papers@nime2026.org - to let them know so they can flag it. Then, all we need to do is ensure that you donât have the same reviewers for both submissions and it should be completely fine.
Hope this helps! When in doubt, do feel free to email us or the track chairs to check about anonymisation or any other concerns
Just an additional clarification I forgot to add: not including identifying information also means you shouldnât say something like âin our previous work [citation]â. You can find an example and further details here on the site: Preparing your submission
Hi @Ximena26 , no worries at all! No, you donât need a PDF at this stage, just the title, authors, and abstract, all of which can be edited later up to the full submission deadline on the 12th
Basically, as long as you can see the submission in your CMT Author Console that means itâs been successfully created and youâre good to go for tomorrow and can just keep working up to the final deadline!
Hi all! As the CMT directs, weâre using the Project Description as our Abstract for a Music submission. However, my co-authors pointed out that in previous years, Music submissions tend to use their Program Notes as their Abstract rather than the Project Description. Which should we use as the Abstract? Thanks for any info!
Hi @mej101! Could you reach out to the Music Chairs directly? For music submissions, I would think it would be best to use the shorter project notes in the CMT submission form too, especially for allocating reviewers, but theyâll be able to confirm. You can reach them at music@nime2026.org.
Hi Courtney, I have uploaded everything required, and now I can see in the author console that itâs ready. I see no Submit button. Does this mean that the proposal will be automatically submitted at 11:59? Many thanks.
Hi @panosghikas, you update the submission each time you click âSave changesâ on the Edit Paper page on CMT, so you donât need to do anything to explictly submit once you are done. The portal closes at 23:59 Anywhere on Earth (AOE) time, at which point no further changes can be made. The version in CMT at the time the portal closes is the one that will be considered for review.
You can only have one primary area of interest, but you can select up to three secondary areas.
Thank you, Courtney. Iâve tried on Chrome and Safari, and there is no option to choose more than one subject area. This is probably an issue that canât be fixed in time. I will add a note about this to my proposal, including the other subject areas I wanted ticked. Many thanks again!
Hi @panosghikas, you can email the track chairs if you are struggling to add them and they can do this for you before the paper goes out for review. Just to be extra sure, only one box can be clicked from the left column (primary), but up to three can be checked in the right column. But anyways, this isnât a problem for the submission; it helps us to make sure we can allocate reviewers more easily for the topic area though, so do reach out, e.g., papers@nime2026.org or music@nime2026.org, depending on which type submission this is.
Hi Courtney, I tried to attach a screenshot to show you what I can see, but it wonât allow it. There is no indication of which subjects are primary and which are secondary. If a subject in any column is selected, then anything previously selected is unselected.
Can you send the screenshots to us via email? info@nime2026.org
Iâll have a look when I get a sec, itâll help me make sure if something is wrong with the CMT setup
